Recruiters Dont Expect a Return on Investment from LinkedIn (part 4)
Recruiters Donât Expect a Return on Investment from LinkedIn (part 4) LinkedIn has changed recruiters are going mad! And at a time when Trump and Brexit are causing a storm online Well, these things happen in threes! Or do we need some perspective? So, the web (and every meeting I am in with recruiters) is full of how very dare LinkedIn make these changes? âWhat a disaster⦠I want to boycott LinkedIn!â. Now, Im not deriding the fact that LinkedIns changes have caused disruption in the recruitment market, but to be fair, this has consistently been the case and has also been a while in coming. Some perspective about LinkedIn How about we stop and think about something? Both you as a recruiter and your lovely clients have access to LinkedIn and your clients often have more budget to spend on a LinkedIn Recruiter Licence. So why are you stressing about the playing field being levelled out, and not being resourceful and looking for opportunities to be competitive? As a recruiter youâre a problem-solving-resourcer-negotiator-clever-being⦠Oh! And the technology exists for you to create talent pools, warm candidates lists, market your niche the thing Your recruitment CRM is a pretty critical (and often undervalued) bit of kit. 3 really good differences between your recruitment software and LinkedIn Only you have access to your recruitment CRM data. Why are you not seeing this as an opportunity to get your clients queuing up and pay through the nose for your warm talent? When you come (or your recruitment boss wants) to sell the business, your recruitment CRM will be valued (or laughed at by the auditors) No-one will be looking at your LinkedIn network and valuing it If anything they will look at your empty/out of date database and frowning as to why you have spent so much time not creating a talent pool that you can sell. Creating a warm list of candidates and clients, that hear regularly from you, that value you, that look at your jobs, that respond to your emails and calls â" the fact is most recruitment CRM do this for breakfast (and if yours doesnât⦠time to change?) and the same for clients and leads/opportunities â" this is what clients and candidates want â" a speedy recruiter who doesnât need to advertise/source⦠perhaps (for those that can remember) like recruitment used to be? Not burning your LinkedIn bridges Now, I am a massive fan of LinkedIn. Anything that helps me improve my brand, attracts talent and clients for my recruitment clients, and speeds up sales conversions â" Iâm in⦠and paying for it⦠well, nothing in life is free. I donât fill up with petrol and drive off⦠I totally see the value of Tesco and donât expect a free trolley of shopping either. Plus, spending lots of precious time using free stuff is crazy⦠especially when the average recruiter screams that they have no time to talk to clients and talent. Donât expect ROI from LinkedIn I have talked before about how recruiters donât expect ROI from LinkedIn: Recruiters: Donât Expect a Return on Investment from LinkedIn (part 1) â" aka â" do you know its value? Recruiters: Donât Expect a Return on Investment from LinkedIn (part 2) â" aka â" do you know its cost? Recruiters: Donât expect a Return on Investment from LinkedIn (part 3) â" aka â" Is LinkedIn Recruiter Really that Expensive? Are recruiters finally expecting a return on investment from LinkedIn and thatâs why theyâre edgy?

Use Facebook Custom Audiences to Increase Your Brands Sales - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
Use Facebook Custom Audiences to Increase Your Brands Sales - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Facebook advertising is a great way for personal brands to immediately start building exposure. Since the program began in 2004 there have been a lot of changes along the way. Today there are a variety of options to choose from to help target the right market. Many brands and businesses advertise on Facebook as a way to promote their content and attract new leads. But what about the conversions after someone has clicked on the ad? This can be a challenge for most campaigns, but there is a solution. Welcome to Facebook Custom Audiences, which is a newer program introduced by the social network to help advertisers to appeal to those they have already made connections with. The service allows ads to be targeted to your brandâs existing email list, which has a much greater ROI than a standard ad campaign. When you create a Custom Audience on Facebook your business is placing its products or services in front of the eyes of its subscribers. A simple CSV file or MailChimp connection is all that is needed. Not convinced yet about how powerful this tool is for your personal brand? How Facebook Custom Audiences Can Increase Visibility Here are several ways Facebook Custom Audiences can enhance your advertising and sales: ⢠Target marketing on Facebook While a general advertising campaign allows for demographics and keywords, a Custom Audience will be seen by a specific target market who is already interested in your brand. ⢠Build interest in your products and services Once a subscriber has viewed your Facebook ad the opportunity to follow-up with them is golden as they have already shown that they are likely to make a purchase. Additionally the chances of social sharing is greatly increased. ⢠Conversions increase A regular advertisement on Facebook can be easily forgotten or overlooked, but if a subscriber is already a loyal follower itâs more possible to convert these into sales. ⢠Less sales work for you When your personal brand puts forth a great offer to its audience on Facebook the tough job of generating a fresh sale is greatly reduced. Itâs far easier to nurture someone who is already familiar with your product or service than to those who are seeing it for the first time. Creating a Facebook Custom Audience for your personal brand is as simple as visiting the Ads Manager menu then following the instructions step-by-step in what is about a 30 minute process. The next time your business creates an ad campaign you will be able to select a targeted audience of leads already captured who are familiar with what you have to offer, which will help your brand produce more sales.

8 Qualities that Are More Important than IQ For Success
8 Qualities that Are More Important than IQ For Success From a young age you are led to believe that the more intelligent you are, the more successful you will be. For starters, throughout the education system you are prepared for one set of exams, after another, under the impression that the brainier you are the better your grades will be. However, this isnt necessarily the case. Though its true that your IQ may have an impact on your career success to some extent, it isnt the be all and end all when it comes to success, as other factors such as your ability to communicate effectively also play a large role. In fact, your emotional intelligence (EI) could be just as important, if not more important than your intellectual intelligence and employers are actively seeking EI qualities in candidates. So if youre not a natural genius, no need to worry, here are a few qualities that may help you achieve success (courtesy of Headway Capital): The BIG 5 personality qualities for success: Conscientiousness Openness Agreeableness Emotional Stability Extraversion How do these influence success? Individuals who had higher levels of these traits were more likely to achieve higher grades. 85% of financial success is generated from people skills. People prefer to do business with people they like and trust. 8 traits that are more important than IQ: 1) Self-regulation A level of self awareness and the ability to control your emotions, means that you are able to respond reasonably to negative situations, rather than allowing emotions to take over. The ability to think before acting is incredibly important. 2) Growth mindset Self-belief and a willingness to say yes to new opportunities is a really good attitude to have when it comes to progressing in your career. Set-backs should be seen as learning curves to move on past them. 3) Resilience In order to learn from mistakes or set-backs and progress, it is essential that you know how to accept that something went wrong and then do things differently, rather than losing motivation. 4) Passion Pursuing something that you are passionate about will give you that extra motivation to do your best, that knowledge wont provide alone. 5) Empathy If you can put yourself in other peoples shoes and understand their stand points, it will make it much easier to form relationships and work cooperatively in a team. 6) Conscientiousness Having the ability to stay organised, plan ahead and maintain your focus will ensure that tasks are done efficiently. 7) Openness to experience An eagerness to learn new skills and try new things will reflect much better on you than if you were reluctant to broaden your horizons. 8) Social skills Networking and functioning in a team can be some of the most important factors in succeeding in your career. People want to work with people who are approachable and can are good communicators. Top image: Pablo

How To Start A Career In Pharmaceutical Sales - CareerAlley
How To Start A Career In Pharmaceutical Sales - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. The pharmaceutical industry is a very lucrative area and there are a lot of career opportunities there. Whether you are interested in the research and development end or the sales and marketing end, there are a lot of different career options for you. If you are interested in pharmaceutical sales, heres how you can get started in your career. Source Pexels CCO License Qualifications In terms of qualifications, it really depends on the company that you are hoping to work for. Most companies do not require you to have a specific degree like you would need if you were going into research and development. Companies are more interested in the qualities that you have and your previous job experience. As demand for healthcare grows, the business behind it becomes more complex. Prepare to meet the challenge by developing in-demand skills to help steer modern practices or manage your own business. Tweet This A lot of them are looking for graduates, but not all of them, so if you dont have a degree, that doesnt mean you wont be able to find a position. However, they are looking for people that have a keen interest in science and medicine, so a related degree will give you a bit of an advantage over the competition. Its not essential but if you are serious about a career in pharmaceutical sales, its worth considering. Skills The most important thing when applying for these jobs is the skills that you have. Pharmaceutical companies are looking for somebody that has a keen interest in science and a good knowledge of the latest innovations in their field. You should keep up with publishing companies like Bentham Science and make sure that you have a good working knowledge of all of the latest research. Demonstrating this knowledge in applications and interviews will be a big help. Companies are also looking for people that have good sales skills. That means a person that is confident and outgoing and gets on well with people. Good communication skills are absolutely essential as well. Pharmaceutical sales is all about hitting targets, so the biggest thing that theyre looking for is somebody that is motivated and goal orientated. You need to highlight these skills on all of your applications and try to come up with good examples from your previous experience. Networking If you start looking at job sites for vacancies in the pharmaceutical sales sector, you might have trouble finding anything. Sometimes, you will see jobs advertised, but a lot of the time, those vacancies will be filled by word of mouth. A lot of the jobs are taken by people that work in other areas of the industry, which does put you at a disadvantage. One option is to try to get a different position in a pharmaceutical company and see if you can move over to sales. Many people think that people are born to be a natural sales person to have a successful career in the industry, along with uber confidence and the almost important gift of the gab. However, in reality there really is no one that is born to be a sales people. If you get enough training and good experience anyone could build a successful career in sales. The most important thing, whether you have a position or not, is networking. If you can network effectively, you will hear about these vacancies and you can express your interest in them. Try to attend any industry events that you can, and you can even ask your doctor who their suppliers are and whether they can put you in touch. Getting into pharmaceutical sales can be tough, but if you follow this advice, you should be able to land your first position. What's next? Ready to take action? 4 Things That Could Be Holding Your Career Back - Margaret Buj - Interview Coach
4 Things That Could Be Holding Your Career Back If youâre tired of working in the same old place, doing the same old thing, and it seems that no matter what you do you just canât get any further ahead, you might actually find that youâre holding yourself back. There are some things that really can stop you from progressing, and once youâve worked out what they are and dealt with them, you should be able to move forward either in the job youâre working on now. No Confidence If you lack confidence, then you will have a big problem when it comes to moving forward in your career. You might spot a job posting, or a chance at promotion, and tell yourself not to bother with it because youâll never get it anyway. So you donât go for it. Or you have the chance to prove yourself and make an important decision, but you lack the confidence to do it, and someone else has to step in. Or you want to speak to your boss about a raise, or about having more responsibility, but you canât bring yourself to do it. Then you wonder why nothing changes. Confidence is key when it comes to moving ahead with your career; if you have self-confidence, your employers are more likely to spot it and be confident themselves that you can do the job. Too Much Procrastination A little daydreaming is good for you. It helps to secure your goals and keep everything moving on the right track. Too much, however, is a bad thing for your career. If you always find that there is something better to do than get down and serious with your work, or you constantly tell yourself itâs not the right time to try something else, you wonât get very far. It may never be the right time in your mind, but you need to try anyway. What have you got to lose? If itâs going to be done, now is the time to do it. Be brave and take a chance and youâll be much more likely to be successful. Not Taking A Chance It could be that youâve seen an advert for a job and you really like the sound of it. Yet itâs based out in the countryside, and the details say that youâll need a car to get there. You donât have a car, so you donât apply, even if otherwise the job was perfect for you. Yet, wouldnât it be better to apply and see what happens next? If you get called for an interview, ask for a favour from your friends and either borrow a car or ask for a lift. Call a taxi. Just get there and do your best. If you donât get the job, at least you tried. If you do get the job, invest in a used Ford or similar, because it will be an investment in your future. Itâs not taking a chance that wonât get you anywhere. Not Networking In some careers, networking is essential if you want to get ahead. Youâll need to go to events, make yourself known, help people out, and build business relationships that can help you in the future. Becoming more engaged with the people youâre doing business with will not only help your career, but it will make you happier too, plus youâll be a lot more productive in general because youâre more comfortable doing what youâre doing.

Client Case Study Courtney Fanning - When I Grow Up
Client Case Study Courtney Fanning - When I Grow Up Um, do you know that Ive coached hundreds of women since I started offering dream career guidance in 2008? And that these women are freakin rock stars, leaving soul-sucking jobs and traveling the world and launching creative, grown-up businesses and simply doing work that fits their lifestyle goals? Well ya do now and youll hear their stories firsthand in my Client Case Studies series! Im so thrilled to introduce you to Courtney Fanning, whose business Big Picture Branding just launched last week! Shes taking over a decade of experience in the industry and focusing it to work on her favorite subset of clients: businesses who make the social good a priority. A dream business built for do-gooder businesses? Whats better than that?! I cant wait for you to meet this smarty-pants powerhouse. Why did you decide to work with me? I knew that I could have all the motivation and gumption in the world, but unless I had some sort of structure or process in place, my business would live inside my head forever. I decided to work with you first and foremost because it was clear that youve worked with a ton of creative professionals like myself and know what works and what doesnt. There would be no time wasted. The clincher was your positive, you-CAN-do-it-and-you-WILL-do-it energy. Starting a dream business can cause all those awful uncertainties and doubts to come out of the woodwork, but with you, I knew I wasnt taking a blind leap into the unknown. More like a carefully calculated leap with a clear and visible landing pad at the end! What were you doing work-wise when we started working together and what are you doing now? For four years I had given everything I had to my previous employer and in the end, found that the daily frustrations and abuses were not serving me as a person or a professional. Building on a decade of experience as a creative marketer and brand strategist, the timing felt right to leave that all behind and focus on work that better aligned with my values helping purpose-driven businesses build brand strategies that lead to greater impact. Big Picture Branding is my brain-child and I am all in! What was your biggest takeaway from our work together? Whatever Michelle says to do, do it. HA! But in all seriousness, I would hmmm and hawww about a decision for days (regarding copy, design, service model, etc.,) going in circles, and then almost always realize that yes, your input was always the best choice. The practice of exploring all my options was super valuable in terms of figuring out what I wanted to stand for and convey as a business owner, but I probably could have saved myself some time and anxiety by just doing whatever you originally suggested! Think of someone who is currently in the shoes you wore when we first started working together. What advice do you have for her? There is value in what you have to offer and yes, someone will actually pay you money for it. I have come across so many brainy-meets-creative-meets-savvy women who, for one reason or another, have been led to believe that their skill set and abilities arent valuable. I was one of them. But when the support isnt there, go out and find it. You deserve it. Work with a coach who is realistic, no bullsh*t, but also empathetic and inspiring. Find people who lift you up to help you realize your goals. Even the most badass boss out there has a support system, so create yours. Its the best investment you can make for your professional self. Is there anything thats been a game-changer for you when it comes to your business that you can share? Wed love a good resource or a mindset/productivity tip! Since my skillset errs on the side of creative strategy and messaging, I can use all the help I can get when it comes to design! I love Canva for social media graphics, Coolors.co for playing with brand color combinations, and YouTube for helpful Squarespace hacks. I also depend on a regular lineup of podcasts for helping me get into the right mindset on days when I need a little jumpstart or for inviting curiosity back into my life when Im feeling uninspired. Some favs: Women, Work, and Worth has some great interviews from fellow entrepreneurs trying to figure it all out. NPRs Hidden Brain uses science and sociology to explain the world around us super interesting as a person who has made a career studying what motivates and influences us! Forever35 is a podcast about self-care and the strong girl-power vibe is everything when I need a small escape. NPRs How I Built This dives into the stories behind some of the worlds best known companies. Spoiler Alert: No one knows exactly what theyre doing, exactly how theyre going to do it, and where theyre ultimately going to go, no matter how brilliant an entrepreneur they are! (There, now dont you feel better? Keep persevering!) This American Life is a masterclass in brilliant storytelling. 99% Invisible explains the thinking behind the things we interact with every day that go unnoticed like why some doors are push and some are pull, why pants pockets were invented, and whats the deal with barcodes? Whats on the horizon for your business? Wed love to hear about any upcoming offerings or goals! A brand strategy can seem like a really big and nebulous concept to grasp, but its really just because most businesses have no idea where to start. Right now Im offering a complimentary and 100% personalized brand assessment in 48-hours. (Yes, really.) Just scroll to the bottom of my homepage and fill out the form. Well touch base, youll tell me where I can find your business online, and in 48-hours youll find out whatâs hurting you the most (and what to do about it!) Having someone who can objectively see your business through your customers eyes, and then tell you whats missing based on where you want to be in a year or ten years is like having a business Fairy Godmother. If you want to go to the royal ball and snag a prince, were going to need to upgrade a few things and get you communicating like the shiny princess you are, honey. Where can we find you and your work? www.bigpicturebranding.com, @bigpicbranding on Twitter and @BigPictureBranding on Instagram. While Courtney launched her business through my 90 Day Business Launch program, Im fully booked through the spring wont be opening those spots til next month! If you wanna get started *next week* AND launch your biz *this* July, then check out Dream To Done, A Guided Year to Clarify, Launch Build Your Dream Business. No-obligation apps close on Wednesday, so dont wait too long!
